The time clock will be used at all games.  Late plays will have to be given to slow players.

Eight is Enough game has been changed to 1:30 PM.  This month the game will be on Sunday, June 28th.

HELP

Players continue to came in late for Monday game.  This makes it very hard on the Director to sit up the game.  Please try to be at the club ten minutes before game time with the correct change.

LESSONS LEARNED THE HARD WAY

  If you must go over the hand talk low and so the players at the next table will not  hear  you "made 6 clubs".   Our tables are very close and some voices carry to the next three tables.

Please remember to turn your cards over after each trick.  Do not move your cards until everyone agrees on the final contract. 

If you call for the Director, please keep your hand up until the Director comes to your table.  This will help the Director as they are usually busy in the Director's room adding the names to the computer.

Remember to ask your partner "no Clubs, etc" if your partner does not play a club.  This simple question will save a lot of Director calls.  I have noticed a lot of players are not asking their partner this question.

If a Director is called to the table, let the Director make the ruling.  Everyone talking at once only delays the game. A ruling may delay the game but that is part of duplicate bridge. 

Please do not replay the hand and delay the players moving to the next table.  NO ONE LIKES LATE PLAYS.  However, it is usually not the offending person who gets the late play but someone else. 

Hestitation: Players should bid and play in tempo.  When you sit a long time, it does convey information to your partner that you are having a problem.

Cell  phones should be TURNED OFF  after you enter the building before the start of the game.  If you need to have the cell phones on, take the phone to the Director and they will answer the cell phone if you have an emergency.  ACBL Directors will penalize a half board to anyone who has a cell phone ring during the game (Just ask Gil).  After the round, you can always go outside and make your call if you cannot wait until the end of the game.

Gil's classes are still continuing on Sunday Afternoon. 478/718-5130. Intermediate lessons at 3:00-5:00 PM.  at the Bridge Center.

  WE ARE A MEMBERSHIP OWNED CLUB!  OUR DUES ARE $10.00 PER YEAR PAYABLE TO MDBC WITH YOUR MEMBERSHIP NUMBER ON THE CHECK.  YOU CAN GIVE THIS TO THE DIRECTOR AT THE START OF THE GAME AND THE GAME DOLLARS AND ANY DUES WILL BE GIVEN TO MILDRED TURNER, YOUR TREASURER (LARRY'S BETTER HALF).  YOUR MDBC DUES MUST BE PAID BEFORE YOU CAN GET AN AWARD IN THE CLUB'S MASTERPOINT RACE.

The Board voted to raise the fee for non-members to $5.00 a game.  If you are a member, the fee is $4.00 per game.  We do have to charge over $4.00 for certain games but only once or twice a year so this is bargain.

For PARTNERS look under Partners icon on the left side of the Bulletin.  I have added a copy of the By-Laws on the web site.   If you see an address or telphone number wrong on any list, go to feedback under the icon on web site and send me an e-mail with the correct information.  I can make a mistake typing (?) or an address or telphone number will be outdated.  We are all members of the MDBC.

                                                   MASTER POINT RACES 2009

In order to win the master point race, you MUST be a member of the Macon Duplicate Bridge club.   Dues are $10.00 a year.   You can write a check or give cash to the Director and you will be paid for this year.  We have a membership game in December at our Christmas party.   We will have a membership list on the Director's table so you can check your status. If you have paid and your name does not have "M",  please check with Mildred Turner (Treasurer 2007) and she will get the list updated.

Our program runs from December 2008 until end of November 2009 and winners are announced  at our annual Christmas Party.  The list is posted at the Club.  YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE MACON DUPLICATE BRIDGE CLUB TO WIN A AWARD.

These are points won at our club only. Check   www.acbl.org or The Memphis Bulletin for your total points.  Club points are reported by our Club Manager after the end of the month by e-mail to ACBL.  Some games have to be reported as soon as they are played and you will recognize them as they are on ACBL by date and not reported again at the end of the month.

                                        SPECIAL GAMES -MACON                                                          

Mary May is sending out an e-mail announcing the special games at our club.  If you are not getting the announcement, call Mary and she will add your name to her list.    

Jimmy Turner posts a monthly Club Report at the Club.  The report shows total games, regular tables and special games played at the club.   This report shows the actual dollars we have paid to ACBL for the month.  It shows the dates of each game and the Director for each game.  A little reading will give you an idea of how the club operates.  Our Club has hours of enjoyment each month.

Ann McCary's husband Charlie has died and his funeral was Monday, June 22nd.

Lillian continues her treatment and is playing bridge.
