MARCH 8

Our condolences to Rosalie Hancook whose husband, Stephen, died in March after a long illness.

Stephen Robert Hancook 66, died peacefully at his home in Plainfield, Ind. After living a vibrant life and persevering through an eight-year battle with colon cancer.  A native of Plainfield, Ind., Steve traveled the world as Director of International Treasury for Eli Lilly in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, retiring after 33 years to enjoy life with his wife Rosalie at home in Plainfield and Lake Wales, Fla. Among his greatest joys in retirement was his prison ministry at the Plainfield Correctional Facility, golfing, visiting with his many friends and colleagues around the world, telling stories, sharing memories and enjoying a good joke. Steve is lovingly remembered for his thoughtful and generous heart, his love of music, fine dining and good hard work, his total lack of handyman skills, and his personal credo and best advice: "minimize your maximum regrets."   Steve received his M.B.A from Indiana University and B.S. from Purdue University.  Steve is survived by his wife Rosalie Hutchens Hancook, his brother Bob Hancook (M.A.) of Plano, Texas, his daughter Amy Terzopoulos and sons Sam Hancook (Adria) of St. Louis, Mo., and Daniel Hancook (Marti) of Columbia, Mo., stepdaughters Susan (Jason) Cook and Karen (Rick) Parker, and grandchildren Evie, Leo and Peggy Terzopoulos, Robby and Jason Hammond, and Joey, Christopher and A.J. Parker. He was the eldest son of Ruth Tipps Hancook of Plainfield and the late Robert T. Hancook. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution to the Indiana University Cancer for G.I. Cancer Research, 535 Barnhill Dr. Rm 473 Indianapolis, In 46202 or Advocate Hospice 2605 E. Main St. Danville, In. 46122. A memorial service will take place on Tuesday March 10, 2009 at Noon in the Plainfield Christian Church 800 Dan Jones Road Plainfield, with calling two hours prior to service. Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield is handling arrangements. Online condolences can be made to the Hancook family at: bakerfuneralservice.com
