VOLUNTEER STANDBY POLICY


1. A Volunteer Standby must be a member of the Barrie Bridge Club and will
receive two free game tickets for fulfilling this obligation.  The director will give
these tickets to the Standby person at the start of the game that he/she is scheduled
to volunteer as Standby for. 

2. The Standby Volunteer will only play with the last remaining person who arrives
without a partner (after everyone else is paired up).   Players arriving without
partners are to fill in the “Looking for a Partner” form on the table for the
director’s attention.

3. The Standby person should be at the bridge club on Monday and Wednesdays by
7:00 pm – no later than 7:10 pm. or 12:30 pm on Tuesday – no later than 12:40
pm.

4. With less than 10 minutes to game start, a Standby person may proceed to draw
up a convention card with the last remaining player who has arrived without a
partner.  Players arriving without a partner after this time will not play with the
Standby person. 

5. Only in certain instances and approved previously by the Executive, can a
Standby person refuse to play with someone arriving without a partner.

6. A person arriving without a partner and noticing that there is no Standby
Volunteer may sign up as Standby Volunteer providing he/she has arrived by 7:15
pm on Monday and Wednesday, and 12:45 on Tuesday.  The same rules apply to
this person as above.

7. The Volunteer Standby person should call the Partnership Convenor as soon as
possible before game time if he/she has to cancel a date on the Standby list.

8. If a person comes to play and finds no stand-by available, that person will receive
2 free game tickets.
